Back to Reality

Well, after all the holiday fun it has been back to the routine of school for the girls. However, it hasn't been all work and no play, here are some pics from a field trip to the zoo, a wax museum and a great reward for great grades!

SHANGHAI WILDLIFE PARK

Sarah Jane's kindergarten class took a trip to the wildlife park and as you'll see, it's truly a wildlife park. Here you can see how the children are taken on a tour through the park where the animals roam free. No need for concern, they are safe inside the bus and behind the windows.



Feed time! Here's a shot of the tigers chasing the wildlife "roach coach" in hopes of some dinner. According to Samantha, you could see the tigers ramming the back of the truck trying to get the food. She said it reminded her of the cows at her daddy's when we're putting out cubes off the tailgate of the truck (except that these animals are carnivores with large teeth). But again, no need for concern riding in the big, safe bus.

Oh wait, here's a sign in English. Let's see, if the big safe bus that we are in breaks down, we should just whistle for a while. Yeah, as the hungry bears and tigers surround the disabled vehicle, just politely whistle for a while!

After the exciting bus ride, Sarah Jane got up close with a lemur. Cages really are overrated.

And the day ended with a nice relaxing camel ride.

THE WAX MUSEUM

One of the major projects for Sydney's 5th grade class was to pick out a person who lived during the American Revolution and research the person's life and accomplishments. As part of the project, the students dressed up like their character and prepared a 4-5 minute summary of their life. The final for the project consisted of the parents coming up to school and having the opportunity to walk through the classrooms and push a button to hear the summary from each of the characters.

Sydney chose Abigail Adams and she really did a great job. Samantha made the dress for her...gotcha! Actually, she had it made for her at the local fabric market.

Here's Sydney's class altogether, it really was a fun day, the kids went all out and did a great job!

A JOB WELL DONE!!

Okay, I had to put this in because the girls have done so well with the move. They have had a positive attitude, kept their focus on Christ, jumped in and made friends and on top of all of that they did outstanding on their first semester report cards! So, as a special treat we surprised them and took them for a foot massage. For those of you who have never experienced one, it may sound a little strange, but trust me, it's great and the girls loved it. We wish Johnny Sue could have seen them!
